Niagara Homegrown Homebrew Competition

Celebrating the explosion of barley and hop production in Western New York, Niagara Tradition and Niagara Malt would like to sponsor an in house competition.

Entry Deadline is September 10th and beers must use 80% Niagara Malt. There is no entry fee, but please submit three 12oz unmarked amber bottles.

 And so for year one here are the rules:

  1. 80 % of the grist/ fermentables must be Niagara Malt Pale Ale or Pilsner Malt
  2. The competition is open to 2015 BJCP categories 1-22, 24-26 (we've excluded the sours and specialty/ experimental for the first year).
  3. Three bottles are required for each entry.  12 oz brown bottles preferred/ will except brown 16 oz pounders and swing tops as well.  All labels and glue must be removed.  Caps must be solid color or blacked out with black marker.  Writing also must be blacked out.
  4. Entry deadline is COB September 10, 2016.
  5. Entries may be dropped off or shipped to our shop, address below.

Judging will take place 2 weeks after the dropoff deadline with the final best of show judging done on air on our "Just Brew It" radio program.  Tentative airing will be Saturday, October 19 -9:30 am, 1520am radio. Cheers!

Hops are an annual vine, that will grow a beautiful green ornamental flower.

They can be processed at home, stored and used for homebrewing.  

Hops are extremely easy to grow.  You can order online to be shipped or to pick up in our shop.

Place an order on line and pick it up in the store.  You simply check a box at check out and will receive an email when the order is complete and ready for pickup (not the same as the automatic confirmation email.) This is a great option if you have large amounts of grain to be ground (and you can now check a box for that too!) or if you'd like some one else to pick the order up. The option has really always been available by using the comment area but it just got a whole lot easier.
